ABOUT THE ARTIST
My background studies included two years at Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. With no formal jewelry training, I founded “THE WRIST WORKS” in the summer of 1974 in Eugene, Oregon, while my husband attended graduate school. The Oregon landscape was dominated with wild flowers, inspiring me to concentrate on floral designs. I now live in rural Illinois that motivates my interest in country scenes and wildlife. To this day, I still design and create all of the pieces myself. To develop most of the jewelry, I use the basic techniques of hand sawing, fabrication and forging. In particular, the focus of my work has been hand piercing intricate scenes in silver and gold, using multiple layers of metal for background or relief. With my emphasis on bracelets, I can offer my customers a variety of bracelet sizes. This will allow a good fit for the smallest of wrist sizes to larger ones, including men’s sizes. I have spent my entire jewelry career participating in major juried art shows, from the west coast to the east. I am now trying a new adventure of offering my original designed works on-line with this website. Enjoy |
